Cook’s Choice Rules
General Information
- Each participant provides six (6) portions for presentation to the judges.
- Turn-In is Cook’s Choice.
- Teams use the contest container provided for turn-in.
- There is No Garnish Rule.
- Contest entries must be prepared on-site.
Judging
- Each contest entry is judged on: (1) Taste (2) Texture (3) Tenderness.
- Participants are judged using a number system.
- The low end of the number system is 2 and the upper end of the number system is 9.
- Each participant’s score is tallied and totaled.
- The top 3 places are determined by the top 3 scores.
- Overall Score Tie-Breakers
- Tie Breaker Number One In case of a Tie in Overall Score, the higher score in the Taste Category determines the higher place finish.
- Tie Breaker Number Two In case of a Tie in the Taste Category Score, the higher score in the Tenderness Category determines the higher place finish.
- Tie Breaker Number Three In case of a Tie in the Tenderness Category Score, a coin flip determines the higher place finish.
Prize Money List
- Money is awarded to the top 3 places.
- 1st Place - $200
- 2nd Place - $100
- 3rd Place - $50
- Prize money will be awarded during the Awards Ceremony on Saturday.
Cook's Choice Schedule
- The cook’s meeting is Friday, April 10, 6:15pm in the OCPR Building at Jones Park.
- The Cook’s Choice Turn-In is, April 11, 11:30am in the OCPR at Jones Park.
