Smoke in the Spring is a sanctioned KCBS contest, designated by the Governor of Kansas as a state BBQ championship. Along with these distinctions and over $10,000 in prize money awarded to the top 10 finishers in each of the contest categories, Osage City has established a signature BBQ contest in Kansas, while maintaining our down-home, community atmosphere.

2007 was a memorable contest. Rain, sleet, and snow covered Osage City, but the bad weather did not dampen the spirits of the competing teams. Even with the wild weather, 60 teams came to "Sno-Sage City" from Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, South Dakota, and Tennessee. In celebration of our 5th annual contest in 2008, Smoke in the Spring honors it’s past champions. You can view these past champions in our Hall of Honor. Our annual goal is simply to offer the BBQ contestants the very best BBQ competition possible. So don’t hesitate, sign your BBQ team up today!!
