Smoke in the Spring

7th Annual State Barbeque Championship

April 9-10, 2010
Jones Park - Osage City, KS

Smoke in the Spring is a sanctioned KCBS contest designated by the Governor of Kansas as a State BBQ Championship. Over $10,000 in prize money and awards is handed out annually to our top 10 finishers in each main event category. The Smoke in the Spring has become an elite signature BBQ contest in the Midwest by maintaining our down-home, community atmosphere in Osage City.

2009 brought us the biggest Smoke in the Spring ever!! 69 teams from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Texas attended and enjoyed their weekend in the absolutely perfect weather. Munchin Hogs at the Hilton, Prairie Village, KS claimed their second Smoke in the Spring Grand Champion Title. 2009 also had three generations of cookers competing, QSS Smokin (Charlie Grieco), 4 Men and a Pig (Mark Grieco), and 2009 Brisket Champion PDG (Paul Grieco & Dalton Spurgeon). Visit our Hall of Honor for a listing of past champions.

The Smoke in the Spring's annual goal is simply to offer BBQ teams and judges the best BBQ competition possible. But, remember if you plan to attend the Smoke in the Spring, pack your "all weather" gear, because you never know what weather to expect in Osage City.
